Lagan recorded an impressive win over Castlefin at the weekend
Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Castlefin Celtic 1–2 Lagan Harps
Lagan Harps claimed all three points with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Castlefin in blustery conditions. Castlefin took the lead midway through the first half when Emmet White pounced in the six-yard box. Both teams had a few opportunities, but neither troubled the opposition’s goalkeeper.
Lagan equalised just before the break when Josh Hay stabbed home a long throw-in. The away side took the lead just after the restart when Kyle Martin broke free and slotted the ball home. Castlefin pushed hard, aided by the breeze, creating numerous chances but could not find the equaliser.
Glencar Inn Saturday Division One
Arranmore United 1–5 Ramelton Mariners
Ramelton Mariners cruised to a dominant 5-1 victory as they travelled overseas to Rannagh Park. Arranmore started well and took the lead after five minutes when Glenn O'Donnell lobbed the ball into the net from outside the box.
Ramelton quickly responded with two goals, courtesy of Aidan Connolly and Shay McFadden. Arranmore came close on a couple of occasions, with Gavin McGlaughlin’s header and a low shot from Tommy McIndewar both testing the Ramelton keeper. Eoin Roulston converted a penalty, and Aidan Connolly added his second to make it 4-1 at halftime.
In the second half, the Mariners pressed to extend their lead but were thwarted on several occasions by Brendan Green in the Arranmore goal. Shay McFadden completed the rout with his second in the 75th minute. Referee: Mick Lagan
Drumbar United F.C. 1–0 Strand Rovers
Drumbar United claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Strand Rovers in a competitive league match. The home side started brightly, with Jacque McCloud hitting the post in the opening 10 minutes. Strand gradually grew into the game and had their best chance midway through the first half, but a powerful shot skimmed off the top of the crossbar.
Both teams defended resolutely, and the first half ended goalless. Drumbar broke the deadlock early in the second half in the 47th minute following a superb team move. McCloud drove into the penalty area before laying the ball off to Ryan Gaughan, who unleashed a stunning 20-yard strike.
Despite Strand pushing forward for an equaliser, Drumbar's defence remained solid. Gaughan, Dan Bennett, and Paul Lagan were outstanding in midfield, and McCloud played a key role in the winning goal. Referee: N/A
Old Orchard Saturday Division Two
Cappry Rovers Reserves 2–5 Letterkenny Rovers Reserves
Cappry Rovers were defeated 5-2 by Letterkenny Rovers in an entertaining match at the Finn Valley Centre. Darragh Morrison gave the visitors the lead early on after a well-executed move. Gareth Doherty was pivotal in the build-up to Rovers’ second goal, as Jack Duffy finished from close range.
Cappry came close when David Carr forced a save from Wade, the Rovers' keeper. Rovers extended their lead with two more goals before half-time, Doherty firing home for 3-0, and Duffy netting his second to make it 4-0. Cappry pulled one back just before the break when Niall Ryan fired into the corner.
After the restart, Rovers added a fifth goal when Doherty scored at the back post, securing the win in their pursuit of the league title.
Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 0–4 Gweedore Celtic Reserves
Gweedore Celtic enjoyed a 4-0 win over Drumoghill in a windy Saturday fixture at The Moss. Despite playing against the wind in the first half, Gweedore had no clear chances. Drumoghill had a few opportunities, but Gweedore’s keeper made important saves.
Eunan Kelly came closest to breaking the deadlock with a powerful free-kick that struck the crossbar. Gweedore came out stronger in the second half and scored after ten minutes, following several corners. The away side doubled their lead three minutes later. Drumoghill continued to push but failed to capitalise on chances, while Gweedore sealed the win with two more goals, including a 25-yard strike into the top corner and another stunner in the closing stages. Finn Travel Saturday Division Three
Drumkeen United Reserves 1–0 Ballybofey United Reserves
Drumkeen United secured a 1-0 victory over Ballybofey United at St Patrick’s Park. The match began evenly, with neither side creating any chances in the opening minutes. Drumkeen took the lead in the 12th minute when Eoghan Kennedy pounced on a loose ball after Lee Guthrie’s effort was saved by Ballybofey keeper Daniel Crawford.
Drumkeen dominated possession but struggled to extend their lead. Guthrie’s shot from the edge of the box crashed off the crossbar. Ballybofey had a chance late in the half, but Conor Murphy’s effort went wide.
The second half saw Ballybofey press for an equaliser, but Drumkeen’s defence stood firm. Guthrie had a couple of chances to add a second, but Crawford made important saves. As the match grew nervy, Drumkeen held on to secure the win, with goalkeeper Ben Gallagher making a crucial save from Colin Kearns. Referee: Daniel Carlin
Gweedore United Reserves 3–2 Lagan Harps Reserves
Gweedore United claimed all three points with a dramatic 3-2 win over Lagan Harps at Carrickboyle. The match saw improving weather, with sunshine replacing the earlier rain. Lagan had the first chance of the game in the 10th minute when a shot from Jack Duncan was well saved by Charles John Doherty.
Gweedore took the lead in the 12th minute when Francis Gallagher fired in from close range after good work by Callum Feireatéar. They doubled their lead six minutes later when Brian McFadden finished from six yards after a cross from Feireatéar. Lagan pressed but was unable to break down Gweedore’s defence.
The visitors pulled one back in the 72nd minute when Ciaran Logue scored from a rebound after his initial shot was saved. Lagan equalised in the 89th minute when Ryan McNeill capitalised on a parried free-kick, but Gweedore responded immediately. McFadden scored the winner in the final minute after a superb assist from Feireatéar. Gweedore secured their second win of the week, with McFadden and Feireatéar both delivering excellent performances. Referee: Seamus Ferry
