Cappry Rovers 0
Southend FC 2
After an incredible unbeaten run this season, Cappry Rovers’ 2012s suffered their first defeat of the season to Southend FC as they bow out of the National Cup.
It a tight contest, the Donegal side started well. Both teams were playing at a high tempo, with chances hard to come by.
Cappry came close when a corner was cleared off the line, but the Waterford girls capitalised on the counterattack, breaking the deadlock just before halftime in what was the first goal Cappry have conceded this term.
The second half continued in a similar fashion, with both sides battling hard. Cappry pressed for an equaliser, forcing the Southend keeper into several fine saves.
However, as Cappry committed bodies forward in search of a goal, Southend struck on the break in the final moments to seal the tie.
Despite the defeat, this remarkable Cappry side has enjoyed an outstanding season, securing an incredible five trophies - winning the League Cup, Premier League, Champions League, SFAI Ulster winners, and the Edinburgh Cup. A truly fantastic achievement from a talented and hardworking team!
