McClafferty, centre, alongside St Catherine's stalwarts Oliver Smith and Pat Byrne
Largy native Patrick McClafferty has been called up to the Gibraltar senior International football squad.
The former St Catherine’s underage star now lives in Gibraltar and has represented the country’s U-21s in the past.
But senior national team boss Scott Wiseman - a former Hull City and Barnsley star - has drafted in ex-Saint McClafferty ahead of FIFA World Cup European Qualifier fixtures against Montenegro and the Czech Republic later this month.
A message on St Catherine’s facebook page reads: “Best of luck to Patrick McClafferty who originally hails from Largy, Killybegs and has been called into the squad from the U-21 panel.
“Patrick represented St Catherines FC some years back when we entered a team in the Foyle Cup.
“Great to see another young lad making progress in his football career. Best of luck Patrick from The Saints!”
