Republic of Ireland schools player Daniel Cunningham
Finn Harps Academy player Daniel Cunningham has been selected for the Republic of Ireland Schools squad for their upcoming Centenary Shield match against Wales on Thursday, March 20 at Tramore AFC.
Cunningham, a student at Coláiste na Carraige in Carrick, Donegal, has been making significant strides in his football career. He joined Finn Harps at U-14 level and played a pivotal role in the team's victory in the League of Ireland Cup in his debut season.

Since then, he has progressed through the academy ranks and is currently a key member of the U-20 squad.
In January 2025, Cunningham contributed to the Republic of Ireland Schools team's 3-1 victory over Australia at Home Farm FC, coming on for the final 20 minutes of the match. This performance highlighted his potential and earned him a spot in the extended squad for the Centenary Shield campaign.
The Centenary Shield series offers a platform for young talents like Cunningham to showcase their skills on an international stage. Following the match against Wales, the Republic of Ireland will face Scotland on March 27, Northern Ireland on April 11, and England on April 24.
