Daniel Cunningham, a student at Coláiste na Carraige in Donegal and a key player for Finn Harps' MU-20 squad, is set to feature for the Republic of Ireland Schools team as they face Scotland in their second SAFIB Centenary Shield fixture.

The match is scheduled for Thursday, 27 March, at Ochilview Park, home of Stenhousemuir FC, with a 1:00 pm kick-off.

Cunningham has been making significant strides in his football career, having joined Finn Harps at the U-14 level and contributing to their LOI Cup victory in his inaugural season.

His consistent development has seen him become an integral part of the MU-20 squad. In January, he made a notable appearance for the Republic of Ireland Schools team in their 3-1 win over Australia, coming on for the final 20 minutes.

The Irish management team also boasts the experience of Ollie Horgan, the former Finn Harps manager, who now serves as a coach for the national schools' side. Horgan's extensive knowledge of the game is expected to be invaluable as the team seeks to rebound from a narrow 1-0 defeat to Wales in their opening Centenary Shield match on 20 March.

Scotland currently lead the Centenary Shield standings, having secured a 6-2 victory over England and a 1-1 draw against Wales. The upcoming fixture presents a challenging opportunity for the Republic of Ireland to revitalise their campaign and demonstrate their resilience against a formidable Scottish side.

Following this encounter, Ireland will have a two-week hiatus before facing holders Northern Ireland at the Blanchflower Stadium in Belfast on April 11, followed by a concluding match against England on April 24 at Athlone Town AFC.
