Goalkeeper Mark Anthony McGinley was an unlikely goalscorer for Letterkenny Rovers against Gweedore Celtic as they maintained their unbeaten run in the Donegal League Premier Division.

Following a Gareth Doherty inswinger in the 92nd minute just in from the corner flag, the Rovers goalkeeper got a headed touch to level the score in the league champions' penultimate outing of the league season at Leckview.

Michael McKelvey in the visitors' goal had looked like he was going to give his side the three points following a brilliant save from both Keith Cowan saved beforehand and Caolan McConnell in a one-on-one. Dean McCarry also missed the target with a second-half header.

Gweedore had led as early as the third minute, when Darragh Mac Aoidh got in behind in just the third minute to open the scoring. Three points would've meant the west Donegal team could've still forced their automatic survival. However, they are now certain of a Sunday, May 11, promotion-relegation play-off against Lagan Harps, who came third in the First Division. Gweedore face Rathmullan Celtic in the last of their regulation league season, with Letterkenny due to take on Fanad United.
