Seamus Coleman left the field early at Goodison Park
Seamus Coleman’s much-anticipated farewell at Goodison Park didn’t go as hoped with the Everton captain forced off early due to injury.
The Killybegs native appeared to pick up an ankle issue just 18 minutes into the fixture against Southampton - Everton’s final match at their historic ground before their move to their new stadium next season.
Although it was only his fifth Premier League outing of the campaign, Coleman was given a huge reception when his name was announced prior to kick-off.
Unfortunately, his appearance was cut short when he signalled to the bench and was promptly substituted, heading straight down the tunnel while being replaced by Ashley Young.
Coleman has made more than 400 appearances for the Toffees and despite limited game time this season, David Moyes has affirmed that Coleman will remain part of the squad heading into next year.
