Four Donegal men played for the Republic of Ireland Amateur side on Wednesday night.

Cockhill Celtic trio Harry Doherty, Lee McColgan and Garbhan Friel joined by Letterkenny Rovers’ Luke Parke.

New Irish Amateur boss Conor Coad used a 22-man squad for the 1-0 win over an FAI ETB XI at Home Farm.

McColgan captained the side in the second half.

All four Donegal men played the second 45 minutes with Doherty in goal, Parke as part of a three-man midfield and Friel up front.

The decisive goal came late in the first half from the experienced Luke Casey, a player Coad noted has a knack of stepping up in big moments

Coad said: "It was a good, competitive game with a strong intensity and structure to it, especially considering both teams were only coming together on the day.

"This is all part of the player ID exercise we have going on over the last number of months.
