Seamus Coleman wasn't the only Donegal man on International duty in the last week with former Finn Harps physio Mickey McGlynn also in action.

The Milford man was present in the Aviva Stadium on Thursday evening last to help look after both the match officials and the VAR team.

Indeed, McGlynn had a bird's eye view of all the commotion as Portugal superstar Ronaldo - with the assistance of VAR -  was dismissed on the hour mark after he appeared to throw an elbow at Dara O'Shea.

The former Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United star was initially shown a yellow card but VAR called referee Glenn Nyberg to the monitor to have another look and he ultimately overturned his decision and upgraded it into a straight red card.

As Ronaldo headed off down the tunnel he had an intense exchange with Republic of Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrimsson who he felt had put added pressure on the match referee with his pre-game comments.

As Ronaldo departed McGlynn can be clearly seen affording himself a chuckle!
