Ballybofey United put in a dominant second half to win the Under-12 Champions League final against Letterkenny Rovers in the Finn Valley Centre on Friday night.

In wet conditions under the lights in Stranorlar, near to their home ground, second-half goals from Jamie Lydon, Isaac Griffin and a brace from Abdulai Mansaray sealed a convincing win for the Dreenan men.

The opening half was tight, with both sides battling hard. Ballybofey threatened through Mansaray and Dan O’Mahony, while Letterkenny Rovers threatened, but two superb saves from Jake Murray thwarted the danger.

Whatever the coaching staff of Chris McDaid, Gavin McNamee, Liam Davis and Jude Patton told their side at half-time certainly worked, as they were unstoppable when they returned for the second half.

Ballybofey broke the deadlock when Mansaray chased down a brilliant through ball from McNamee, rounded the keeper, and slammed the home.

Mansaray stood out for the victors and set up the second, unselfishly squaring to Lydon to make it 2-0.

Griffin made it three when stealing possession high up the pitch and finding the corner of the net, and Mansaray made it four after rounding the keeper again.
