Roma McLaughlin departs Shelbourne after two seasons

The 27-year-old from Greencastle leaves Tolka Park after two seasons at the club having made 39 appearance and scoring two goals

Donegal woman Roma McLaughlin is one of several players to depart Shelbourne ahead of the 2026 Premier Division season.

The 27-year-old from Greencastle leaves Tolka Park after two seasons at the club.

The departures of Noelle Murray, Courtney Maguire, Amanda McQuillan and Megan Smyth Lynch have also been confirmed by Shelbourne boss Sean Russell.

In 2025, McLaughlin played 17 games and scored two goals having netted twice in 22 games in 2024.

McLaughlin - a Republic of Ireland senior international - signed for Shels in early 2024 having been at Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark.

Before that, she spent four years at Central Connecticut State University in the United States, where she helped the team win the NEC title four times.

She was also named as the NEC Midfielder of the Year twice and was selected for the All-America on two occasions.

The former Moville Community School student, Greencastle FC and Moville Celtic midfielder previously played domestically with Peamount United, where she was named as WNL Young Player of the Year in 2015, before joining Shelbourne in 2017 and also lining out for Sion Swifts.
