The annual event is in memory of late club president Liam Toland
The annual ‘LT Memorial Christmas Cup’ will take place this afternoon, Sunday, December 28, in what promises to be another brilliant afternoon of fun and football.
A total of 120 players are due to take part, with kick-off scheduled for 1pm. The festive tournament has become a popular date in the local sporting calendar.
Spectators can expect an afternoon of action, with strong challenges, lively sidelines and no shortage of debate over refereeing decisions, all adding to the atmosphere of the day.
A raffle will be held on the day, with a range of prizes generously donated by local businesses. These include vouchers from SuperValu, Kelly’s Fuel (Shell Shop), Pure Savage, Scruffy Duffy’s, Guildhall Taphouse and Recovery Isle, along with a Christmas hamper.
Following the matches, players and supporters will gather in The Sportsman’s, where soup and sandwiches will be provided. The winning team will also enjoy a bar tab kindly sponsored by Mary and Marty.
There is no entry fee, though donations on the day are welcomed. Every donation will automatically enter contributors into the raffle, with organisers stressing that all support, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
All proceeds from the event will go towards two important local causes: Scoil Naomh Pádraig autism class and Carndonagh FC underage development.
Those who are unable to attend in person but still wish to support the fundraiser and be included in the raffle can do so by donating via Revolut.
Organisers are encouraging the community to come along, support the cause, and enjoy what is shaping up to be a great day for local football and fundraising.
