Amber Barrett has signed for French top-flight club Racing Club Strasbourg (Strasbourg RC) from Belgian club Standard Liège.
The Milford native, who turns 30 today, has signed a contract that will keep her at the French club until the end of the 2028 season.
Strasbourg competes in the French Premier League, where they are currently in sixth place on 19 points from 12 games, with Lyon having maximum points leading the way on 36. Strasbourg take on 10th-placed Lens tomorrow.
“One of the most difficult things I’ve had to write,” Barrett wrote on her socials. “After two-and-a-half seasons in Standard Liege, I have decided to leave the club to pursue another challenge for myself and my career.

“I leave with nothing other than a deep sense of gratitude, adoration, appreciation and respect for the club and what it has done for me.
“I arrived in Standard low in confidence and had a huge amount of doubt about my capabilities as a player. That quickly changed here. Tough coaching, arm around the shoulder energy and a team that oozed a never say die attitude, I knew I was in the right place.
“I had an opportunity to work with and play with fantastic footballers, who taught me so much on a day-to-day basis. But, more importantly, they were even better people. We laughed, we cried, we endured defeat, we obsessed over winning and we celebrated an unbelievable cup victory that gave me my first piece of silverware as a professional footballer.
“I want to sincerely thank Standard, the club as a whole in times of difficulty stands firm and continues to strive for better in the Women’s department.”
Barrett, a current Republic of Ireland international, previously played with Peamount United, 1. FC Köln, Turbine Potsdam, Standard Liège
