Donegal pair selected for Ireland squad for European Deaf Futsal Championships

Catherine Grier and Teagan O’Reilly have both been named in the Ireland Women’s Team for the 2026 European Deaf Futsal Championships in Croatia.

Ramelton woman Grier and O’Reilly from Donegal Town have been named in Martin Perciaville’s squad, with the competition beginning today (Monday, March 9) as they face Hungary in their opening game at 2pm.

In what is the seventh staging of this tournament, Ireland will feel that they have a good chance of making it out of Group A and going all the way to the Final.

The Girls in Green were drawn alongside Hungary, Türkiye, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Germany.

After finishing fourth at last year's World Deaf Futsal Championship - their highest ever finish in a major tournament - Ireland will go into this competition full of confidence.

Included in the squad is former Ireland Women's Under-19 international Brooke Dunne, ex-Cork City attacker Nathalie O'Brien, and 2022 FAI Football For All International Player of the Year Rebekah Grant.

Led by Head Coach Perciavalle and Assistant Coach Lolo Clarke, Ireland landed in Porec, Croatia, knowing that they have the experience and skill needed to challenge for the trophy.
