The board of Finn Harps will meet tonight (Tuesday) in Ballybofey to hear chairman Joey O’Leary’s feedback on the meetings he has had with potential successors to former manager James Gallagher.
Gallagher was sacked on Friday night after an eighth successive game without a win this term and immediately the club chairman began the recruitment process. O’Leary was due to meet two separate candidates last night, bringing to six the number he has met since Sunday.
“We will have a regular board meeting on Tuesday night and I will bring the board up-to-date on where we are in terms of finding a new manager,” O’Leary said yesterday. “We are delighted at the response we have received and I have spoken to some big names.”
Speculations has linked former player Donal O’Brien to the job. The current Cockhill Celtic manager brought the Buncrana team to a Ulster Senior League and Cup double last season and defeated Galway United this term in the EA Sports League Cup. Former managers Felix Healy and Dermot Keely have also been touted, as has Galway manager Sean Connor.
