Intermediate reserves take pride of place at Aodh Ruadh dinner dance

Close on 200 gathered for the annual Aodh Ruadh dinner dance on Saturday night in Dorrian’s Hotel, Ballyshannon, with the Intermediate Reserve team receiving their championship medals.

On the night there was a video link to Australia with county hurler Peter Horan, who only recently emigrated Down Under, receiving the Club Person of the Year award.

Fermanagh native John Magee, who has served Aodh Ruadh for over 40 years as treasurer, secretary, committee member, player, supporter as well as reaching an All-Ireland final as member of the Scor question time team, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Among the other awards on the night included county players Peter Boyle (football) and Aidan Begley, Paul Sheridan and Peter Horan (hurling) honored for winning Ulster senior championship and Lory Meagher awards.

The club awards were as follows:

Young Player of the year – Ronan McGurrin.

Young Hurler of the year – Tommy Gillespie.

Ladies Player of the year – Fionnuala Gill .

Reserve Team player of the year – Rian Treanor.

Ciaran Keon Senior Player of the year award – Conor Patton.

Sean Slevin Clubman of the year award – Peter Horan.

Presentations were also made to outgoing officials Paddy Kelly, John Hughes, Mary Grimes and Marita Maguire and appreciation award were presented to outgoing managers Val Murray, Donagh Keon, Barry Ward, Stephen Ward and Terence McShea.
