UCD lifted the Umbro Colleges & Universities Premier League title for the fourth time in the competition’s eight-year history with a 2-0 win over IT Carlow in the decider at Frank Cooke Park on Tuesday night.
A goal in each half courtesy of Dean Clarke and Letterkenny native Cillian Morrison clinched the win for the Belfield outfit.
Morrison is a former Derry City striker, who also played Gaelic football for St Eunan’s and the Donegal U-21 side under Jim McGuinness that reached the All-Ireland final in 2010.
UCD had Mark Anthony McGinley in goal, the former St Michael’s goalkeeper, who is a native of Ards, while IT Carlow had Seamus Houghton from Buncrana and Derry City FC between the sticks.
