Donegal boxers Jason Quigley (Finn Valley ABC) and William McLaughlin (Illies Golden Gloves) continue their quest this weekend for National Elite Boxing Championship glory.
Both Jason and William are in National Elite Senior Championship semi-final action on Saturday night in the National Stadium.
Middleweight Quigley, who sensationally defeated the reigning champion and Olympian, Darren O’Neill, last weekend,in the quarter-final, will face Conrad Cummings, Holy Trinity, Belfast.
Former champion, Roy Sheahan, St. Michael’s, Athy, fights Conor Coyle, St. Josephs, in the other middleweight semi-final.
Welterweight McLaughlin will trade punches with John Joe Joyce, St. Michael’s, Athy, for place in the welterweight final.
Meanwhile, Raphoe ABC’s Caroline Connolly from Strabane, and three times Ulster champion, will contest her first ever Elite Women’s Senior Championship final.
The Raphoe boxer will face the reigning 75Kg champion Sinead Kavanagh, Drimnagh BC, after both fighters received a bye to the final.
That final is on Saturday night with Quigley’s bout with Cummings on Saturday afternoon, while McLaughlin will take to the ring on Saturday night, in what is being billed as one of the fights of the weekend.
