St Catherine's upset the odds to topple Cappry in Area Shield final

First Division Saints win at Cappry Park

First Division St Catherine’s defeated Cappry Rovers from the Premier Division to win the Brian McCormick Cup’s Donegal Area Shield on Sunday afternoon.

Cappry started the game brightly and had a couple of early chances.

St. Catherine’s settled into the game and were a threat going forward through Daniel Breslin and Ryan Cunningham.

St. Catherines took the lead through Ryan Cunningham who finished well after pouncing on a loose ball in the box.

St. Catherines almost doubled their lead but Brendan Gallen made a fine save.

St Catherines got a dream start to the second half when Alex McBrearty scored after a scramble in the box.

Cappry were dangerous and went close to getting a goal back on a couple of occasions but couldn’t find a way through the St. Catherines defence.
