Milford man chosen for European Deaf Futsal Championship qualifiers

Milford native Gavin Grier has been named on the Ireland Deaf Futsal team for the European qualifiers next month.

Grier has been chosen in a 16-strong panel by the Ireland player-manager Joey Watson for the European Deaf Futsal Championship Qualifiers.

In Brussels, Ireland will face Switzerland, Holland and Belgium in their group. They face Switzerland in their opening game on March 18. On March 19 they take on Belgium before playing Holland on March 20.

Grier represented Ireland at the 2019 European Deaf Football Championships.

He is the son of former Finn Harps and Fanad United striker George Grier. His cousin Catherine has represented the Irish Deaf Women’s Futsal team.

Gavin has been prominent for Milford United and Milford GAA club in recent years.
