Alana Doherty at the Showgrounds this week
Illies woman Alana Doherty has signed a short-term deal with Sligo Rovers.
Doherty is home from Oakland University, where she is on a soccer scholarship, for the summer, and will play for Sligo until returning to the US.
Doherty played for Illies Celtic, winning a raft of silverware, before joining Derry City in 2021.
The versatile Doherty can operate at full-back or in midfield and will go into the squad for Saturday’s FAI Women’s Cup clash with Douglas Hall.
“I’m excited to sign for Sligo Rovers Women and get the opportunity to play in the Womens League of Ireland,” Doherty said.
“We have a great bunch of players, and the management team are great too and I’ve no doubt we can go really far together.”
