Last orders as Sonnys Bar in Glenties calls time

Sonnys Bar in Glenties is to close this weekend.

Sonnys is a renowned, long-established public house located in Glenties' Main Street and it is listed for sale on Henry Kee & Son Auctioneers, Main Street, Ballybofey. Price is available on application. Local musician Mario Mannering will perform tonight, Saturday.

In a brief statement, Sonnys posted: "Unfortunately we are closing down after this weekend, A big shout out to all the loyal customers, musicians and of course to all the staff who were with us from the start." 

"The property comprises of two buildings with the Main Street building containing an appealing, traditional bar, a large basement cellar plus a three-bedroom residence on the upper floors," reads the auctioneers' description. "A second building behind contains a ground floor lounge / games room / function room (ideal for private parties) with a one bedroom apartment above.

"There is a very popular beer garden at the rear with a spacious paved area, gazebo, mature trees etc all overlooking the Owenea River flowing past just on the other side of the wall.
