It was an emotional afternoon in Páirc Naomh Mhuire on Sunday, as St Mary's Kiltoghert, as the club's third team held a moment of silence for former manager Paddy Doran.
Doran, a Leitrim native, tragically drowned off the south west Donegal coast on Saturday 22nd June.
Mr Doran was one of over 100 divers taking part in the North West Dive Rally at Teelin. The planned two-day event was plunged into shock and sadness at around noon on Saturday.
In a touching tribute following his death, his beloved GAA club posted a heartfelt message, saying Paddy was “always one for the underdog".
“Paddy was more than a club member, the club was a part of him. There was nothing Paddy would not do to ensure we all got the club he felt we deserved".
In Sunday's game, the first outing of the St Mary's side since the tragic passing of their manager, a minute of silence was held before throw in.
Doran’s son Emmet led the team out today as captain, and also scored a goal in the first half of the match.
The team went on to beat a strong Melvin Gaels side, with a final scoreline of 6-12 to 4-9.
The club posted images of the moment of silence on social media, and heartfelt comments were left for the team.
One comment added that it was a "fantastic win", and that "Paddy was looking down on you, he would be so proud of every one of you".
Another added: "Lovely gesture. Good man Emmett, Paddy would be proud of you".
