Madden’s Bridge Bar sign up to sponsor potential record-breakers at Bundoran 10

The Bundoran 10 takes place on Saturday, March 1

The organising committee of the Bundoran 10 have announced a sponsor for 2025 for the male and female course records at the event, which will take place on Saturday, March 1 in the seaside town.

Declan Madden of Madden’s Bridge Bar will sponsor the prizes of €200 if the course records are broken by a competitor running the 10-mile race on the day. The current course records are held by: Male – Jake O’Regan (St John’s AC, Clare) who ran the full route in a time of 48’40” in 2022; Female – Caitriona Jennings, who ran the full route in a time of 57’34” in 2012.

Race Director Canice Nicholas said that having a course record is a great incentive to attract top runners from all over the country.

“While many people will be setting themselves a challenge just to even finish the 10 miles or beat their previous time, there’s a great competitiveness between our top 10 finishers to try and smash the course record each year,” she said. “It hasn’t been done now for a few years so no doubt there will be a few attempts by our participants this year.”

Declan Madden of Madden’s Bridge Bar added: “The Bundoran 10 is such a big event for the town and we are delighted to able to provide some sponsorship to help with the running. It brings a massive crowd into the area in early March, well ahead of the traditional start of the tourism season and we’re always glad to see it happening. Best of luck to everyone taking part on the day.”

While entries are now closed for the 10 mile event, limited spaces remain for the 5k run which will take place on the previous evening - Friday, February 28, starting at 7:30pm.

All registered participants have received an email to their registered email address with further information on logistics and what they need to know ahead of the event, in the coming weeks. Maddens Bridge Bar & Restaurant.
