A young boy who was involved in a road traffic accident in south-west Donegal remains in hospital.

The five-year-old was taken to Sligo University Hospital after the collision that occurred on the R263 at Largy, Killybegs on Friday evening.

At approximately 4.50pm on that date, Gardaí were alerted to a collision that had occurred involving a pedestrian and car. The boy was removed from the scene to Sligo University Hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital receiving medical treatment. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

“We appeal to road users who may have travelled along that stretch of road between 4.30pm and 4.50pm with a dash cam to make the footage available to Gardaí,” a Garda spokesperson said. “If anybody witnessed the collision, we ask them to make contact with Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530.”
