They were the central defensive partnership that helped guide Finn Harps back into the Premier Division - and yesterday, Packie Mailey and Keith Cowan both agreed new deals at Finn Park.
It's the perfect boost for Ollie Horgan and his squad as they begin pre-season training this evening ahead of the new campaign.
Horgan has made no secret of the fact that he has found it extremely difficult to attract new signings since Harps gained promotion from Division One at the beginning of November.
He had agreed new deals with a number of players from last year's squad and yesterday, Cowan and Mailey became the latest two players to re-sign.
Speaking last evening, Packie Mailey, who missed most of last season because of injury, said he's delighted to be back on board.
“It's great to get things sorted and I can now concentrate on getting a good pre-season done ahead of the new campaign,” he said.
“Like everyone else at the club, I'm really looking forward to pitting my wits against the best players in the Premier Division.
“It's a great time for Finn Harps and I'm delighted to be involved.”
Harps kick off their Premier Division programme with a home match against Derry City on Friday, March 4th. Pre-season friendlies against UCD, Athlone Town and Drogheda Utd have been arranged and will be played during February.
