Pivotal weekend ahead in Donegal League

Pivotal weekend ahead in Donegal League

It promises to be another pivotal weekend in the Donegal League with big games fixed for both Saturday and Sunday.

St. Catherine's, the reigning champions in the Premier Division, have a crucial game at leaders Drumoghill FC on Sunday where the Saints could really to with a win to reignite their title challenge.

On Saturday, Arranmore United could be celebrated a league title without kicking a ball. Orchard United play Glencar Celtic in the Old Orchard Division and if Orchard fail to win, Arranmore will be champions.

Premier Division

There's no doubt about it, the big game of the day on Sunday is at The Moss.

Michael Lynch's Drumoghill are flying high at the top of the table. Last week's 1-0 win at Glenea maintained their three point advantage over Milford United who also wonat Rathmullan.

St. Catherine's however, slipped up, losing at home to Kilmacrennan.

That result had ramifications at the bottom of the table as well because all of a sudden, Kilmacrennan are looking a good bet to avoid the drop.

This Sunday they travel to play Kildrum. Gweedore Celtic, now in the relegation zone, are at Rathmullan this weekend and Glenea United host Milford.

First Division

The battle for league honours in this division could also go down to the wire.

Third-placed Donegal Town, are now five points off the lead so need to return to winning ways on Sunday at home to Cranford United.

Lifford lead the way following their win over Lagan Harps in the big game last Sunday.

Lifford have another difficult test this weekend at home to Raphoe Town.

And Lagan Harps are also in action - they host Kerrykeel.

Division Two

The new leaders in this division, Erne Wanderers, have a free weekend so Deele Harps, in third, will have a chance to close the gap.

Deele host Curragh Athletic and there are two local derbies with Copany Rovers hosting Letterbarrow Celtic and Eany Celtic at home to Dunkineely Celtic who are bottom of the table and in real need of a victory.
