Naomh Brid, Ballintra, are looking forward to a big season of celebration as the club marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the club.
The club was founded in 1976 with the first meeting of the fledgling club on January 19th 1976. William Walls was the first chairman, Tom O’Donnell was the first secretary and Joe McGroarty was the first treasurer.
The new club played in Division Four of the All-County Football League and Garda John McKenna was the first team manager.
In the four decades since, the club has enjoyed a good deal of success both at senior and underage level including two county Junior A championships and one Intermediate and a host of county underage league and championship titles.
A special committee, under the chairmanship of former county treasurer and chairman Danny McNamee, is currently being put in place and a number of major celebration events are being planned for later in the year.
The club will compete in Division Three of the Donegal All County Football League and the Intermediate championship.
