Barrett disappointed with display

Disappointed Donegal team manager Shaun Paul Barrett admitted that his side’s display was not up to the necessary level after watching his charges blow hot and cold against a good Tyrone side in MacCumhaill Park.

“Tyrone were just the better team today and it is disappointing to lose," said Barrett.

Donegal had won their opening game against Fermanagh two weeks earlier while Tyrone had surprisingly lost their opening game to Antrim.

“We were well in contention in the first half but we hit seven wides and hit five efforts into their keeper’s hands.

“Their keeper also made a few good saves," said Barrett.

“But the lads know themselves and they will be disappointed in their own performances and there is something to work on."

The manager, however, also had praise for Saturday's opponents, Tyrone, who he felt were a top side.

“In fairness to Tyrone they were very patient and worked hard for those two goals which were very vital.

“Our defending was also disappointing as it is normally something we normally pride ourselves in”.

Donegal have two games left - against Derry and Antrim - and if they can win those, they can still make the Ulster Minor League semi-final. Those final two games are away from home - against Derry on Tuesday 5th and the following Saturday, 9th April, away to Antrim.
