Wins for Cockhill and Derry Reserves

Sunday's action in the Ulster Senior League went very much to form with wins for Cockhill Celtic and Derry City Reserves.

Cockhill got the better of Bonagee while Derry City won 4-1 at Swilly with goals from Ronan Curtis, Josh Daniels, Shay Dunlop and Jordan Allen. Laurence Toland scored for Swilly.

It means Cockhill are still unbeaten in the league this season and move on to 27 points from 11 games.

Derry City are up to second and have 23 points from their 10 games. Letterkenny Rovers are third on 21 from 11 games. Derry and Letterkenny are both in action on Wednesday night.

Cockhill Celtic FC found things difficult against a well drilled Bonagee United at the Charlie O'Donnell Sports Grounds on Sunday afternoon last.

Bonagee started on the front foot and for the first five minutes had the lion's share off possession with both Moran and Larkin passing the ball well in midfield. The home side however, took the lead on 7 minutes when Gerry Gill beat Eugene Ferry from a free kick.

Cockhill made it 2-0 five minutes into the second half after a super free by Gerry Gill was flicked home by Jimmy Bradley.

Aiden McLaughlin then had a great chance on 68 minutes for Bonagee but he headed wide from 12 yards after a Larkin corner.

Cockhill added number 3 on 75 minutes when Garbhan Friel picked up a pass from Gerry Gill and advanced before finishing to the net.

The fourth arrived on 85 minutes with a great team goal that started with a kicked clearance under pressure by Gavin Cullen before a number of passes ended with Mal McDermott on the edge off the 18-yard box and he fired home.

Cockhill Celtic: G Cullen, K McLaughlin, J Breslin, P Doherty, W O'Connor, M McDermott, R Doherty (N), J Bradley, G McLaughlin, G Gill, D Doherty (S).

Bonagee United: E Ferry, R Robb, J Lynagh, G Breslin, D Hunter, L Moran, L Curran, K McFadden, A McLaughlin, D Larkin, A Appiah.
