Rosses AC

Last Sunday saw the uneven underage cross country racing move on to a scenic, old style, tough hilly course in Fanad that tested all athletes. Rosses athletes mixed it with all the clubs and competed strongly for honours with so many individual and team performances.

Pride of place has to go to Amy Greene in the u13 girls with a gutsy second and never say die performance from Lara Doherty 2nd in the u17 girls - with both in great running form proving themselves to be ones to be watched.

The under 15 boys worked hard supported each other well just narrowly missing out on team medals. The under 17s boys will learn a lot from today but battled hard and stuck at their task just missing out on team medals.

In the Novice section it was a tough day out for our senior athletes. Everybody worked hard, put in solid performances and will have learned it. Helen McCready had a great run and return to form finishing a strong 6th and leading her team of Donna Boyle, Roisin Harkin and Claire McDevitt to 6th team.

Kevin McGee used his head and came through the field in the second half of the race to lead home his team to 6th place with Noel Diver, Liam McBride, Michael Logue, Edward Harkin, Paul McGee, Charlie O'Donnell and Manus McHugh backing him up.

Well done to Anne Rodgers who completed the three quarter marathon in Athlone last Sunday and the ever youthful Owen Coyle who was flying the Rosses AC flag internationally today when he took part in the Munich Half Marathon coming home in an impressive time of 1:38:21. Adult training continues to focus towards the Dublin marathon in four weeks time.
