League action makes a return in the USL

League action resumes in the Ulster Senior League this weekend with three games fixed for Sunday.

Following the recent FAI Interprovincials tournament and last week's games in the FAI Intermediate Cup, it's been a while since we've had any league games.

The early pace-setters are Letterkenny Rovers who have five points from their three games played. This Sunday, they host neighbours Bonagee United at Leckview Park.

Finn Harps Reserves play their second game since their return to the USL. They travel to play Fanad United.

In the other game, Cockhill Celtic play Derry City Reserves in a meeting of two of the league's title contenders.

Cockhill player-manager Gavin Cullen said that squad freshness has ensured that hunger hasn’t been an issue as they chase a fifth league title in-a-row.

“At times, you’d be sitting thinking the hunger is on the wane, but then the players remind you just how much they want it,” Cullen said.

“It has been some commitment by these players to do what they have done and to keep going.

“A couple of years before I took over, I thought it was dropping a bit, but the whole thing has been energised again. The attitude and commitment since I’ve taken over has been first class.”

All games on Sunday kick off at 2pm.
