Keadue Rovers open with draw at champions Kildrum

Keadue Rovers began life back in the Premier Division of the Donegal League by earning a notable 2-2 draw at champions Kildrum Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

It was a fine result for the Central Park outfit. Danny McGlynn and Cory Gallagher scored their goals with Kevin McHugh and Trevor Gethins on the mark for the Tigers.

This match was one of only two played in the top division on the opening weekend of league action. Cappry Rovers v Donegal Town was postponed while Kilmacrennan Celtic were handed a 3-0 win over Glenea.

Milford United hit three against local rivals Rathmullan Celtic. Two goals from Gary Merritt and a Christopher Dillon goal saw them to victory.

Lagan Harps had their troubles in the Premier Division last season, and they had another difficult afternoon as they kicked off their Division One campaign on Sunday.

Ballybofey beat them 8-0 to hit the ground running. Drumkeen United, champions in Division Two last year, lost out at home to newly promoted Cranford United by a goal to nil. Dale McFadden's goal shortly before half time gave Cranford the points.

There were eight goals too at Dry Arch Park where Bonagee United beat Lifford Celtic 6-2. Aidan McLaughlin scored twice for the Letterkenny club.

The match between Drumoghill FC and Convoy Arsenal was called off due to a bereavement.

Curragh Athletic were the big winners in Division Two, winning 7-0 at Deele Harps. Gavin Sweeney struck a brilliant hat-trick for the winners.

Gweedore United enjoyed an impressive 3-2 win away to Dunkineely Celtic with Ciaran McFadden and Ronan O'Donnell among their goalscorers.

Patsy Friel scored two goals as Kerrykeel FC beat Glenree United 4-2 while Letterbarrow Celtic picked up a good point on the road, drawing 1-1 at Whitestrand United. James McGroary scored for 'Barrow before James Kerr equalised for the home side.
