Former Donegal All-Ireland winning footballer and Irish Rugby International has been appointed to top women’s position with Sport Ireland.

The Fahan native is set to leave her current position with the IRFU  to take up the newly created position of Women in Sport Lead, in Sport Ireland.

She has been the Girls Rugby Development Manager in the IRFU for the past six years.

The appointment was announced today and she is set to take up her new position, in the middle of the month.

“While sorry to be leaving Irish Rugby after six years and the many great people I’ve had the privilege of working with and for, I’m excited by the new opportunity and challenges that lie ahead,” Nora said at the announcement of her  appointment.

“I look forward to working with Sport Ireland, the National Governing Bodies and Local Sports Partnerships to continue to build on the significant work that has already been undertaken in this area within the sport sector to date, recognising the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of women through their involvement in sport.”

An all round sport’s woman Nora Stapleton is double triple crown winner with Ireland, an Irish International Soccer player and winner of three FAI Women’s Cups in a row.

She is also an All-Ireland champion handballer and All-Ireland Intermediate Gaelic Football Championship winner with Donegal.
