Water supply is returning to customers in Letterkenny after crews successfully repaired a major burst on a water main in Ballyraine.

The network is now refilling and normal water supply is expected to return gradually over the coming hours.

The burst disrupted supply for homes and businesses in parts of Letterkenny earlier today, but with repairs now complete, crews are continuing to monitor the network as water pressure recovers.

Providing an update, Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said: "We know how disruptive it can be for families and businesses to be without water, and we would like to thank the people of Letterkenny for their patience and understanding today while these repairs were carried out. The network is currently refilling and water supply is beginning to return to our impacted customers. It can take a number of hours for water pressure to fully recover across the network, particularly for customers located on higher ground or at the end of the network.”
