A Moderate Weather Warning for low temperatures and ice is in place for Donegal from today, Monday, till lunchtime on Thursday.

Very cold nights with widespread frost, ice and lying snow, are forecast, with temperatures struggling to get above freezing during the day. The potential impacts include hazardous road travel conditions and underfoot and travel disruption. The warning, which is status yellow, is in place until Thursday at 12 midday.

Met Éireann says it will be cold today with sunshine and scattered showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow. Top temperatures will generally range from 2 to 5 degrees. Northwesterly winds will increase from moderate to fresh and gusty.

Clear spells and frequent sleet and snow showers then tonight. Widespread frost and ice with lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees in moderate west to northwest winds.

Another cold day tomorrow with sunshine and further scattered wintry showers. Highest temperatures will range from 3 to 5 degrees in moderate northwest winds.
