Storm Bram: Revised time for Status Orange Wind Warning to be activated in Donegal

The revised Status Orange Wind Warning is effective from 2pm until 9pm, while a Red Marine Warning is also in place throughout the day

Storm Bram: Revised time for Status Orange Wind warning to be activated in Donegal

A Status Red Marine Warning is also in place, valid from midday until 9pm

The Status Orange Wind Warning for Donegal is now due to come into effect at a later time of 2pm and last until 9pm. 

A Status Yellow Wind Warning is currently in place in Donegal, with a Status Orange Wind Warning in place for the rest of the country. 

A Status Red Marine Warning is also in place, valid from midday until 9pm. This will affect Loop Head to Erris Head to Malin Head with “South to southwest winds will occasionally reach violent storm force 11. 

This will be followed by a Status Orange – Storm warning for all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish Sea. Southerly winds, later veering southwesterly, will reach strong gale force 9 or storm force 10, valid until midnight

According to Met Éireann, Storm Bram is set to bring “very strong to gale force” winds. Flooding of low-lying coastal areas, especially during high tide; wave overtopping; difficult travel conditions, debris, loose objects displaced; outdoor events impacted and power outages can be expected. The public is asked to exercise caution during this period of inclement weather and to monitor Met Éireann forecasts as conditions can change quickly. 

Donegal County Council have activated their Severe Weather Assessment Team and is continuing to monitor the evolving situation and all Council resources are at a heightened state of readiness in response to this period of unsettled weather.
