Donegal County Council say spells of persistent and heavy rain could lead to both river flooding and surface water build-up in vulnerable areas. Motorists are being urged to take extra caution due to difficult travelling conditions and reduced visibility.
While several counties across the west and southwest are included in the alert, including Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and all of Connacht, Donegal is expected to feel significant impacts due to ongoing wet ground conditions. Local authorities are advising residents in flood-prone spots to remain vigilant and to stay updated with the latest forecasts and travel advice as the weather system moves across the county.
