The Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal Area has called for a deer cull following another incident where a deer was killed on the road this morning.

Independent Councillor Michael McClafferty called for a deer cull earlier this year following two incidents in the area which involved cars hitting deers.

Cllr McClafferty said one of the incidents had been serious and could have had a very different and serious outcome. It appears  a calf was birthed as a result of this morning's collision. Car parts were also found on the road this morning.

He said: "Yet another deer plus a young calf dead at Ards. How much more serious does it have to take before action is taken?"
