Gairmscoil Mhic Diarmada is based at An Leadhb Garbh on Arranmore
Two Gairmscoil Mhic Diarmada fundraisers have helped Arranmore Island on their journey to establish a new graveyard.
The fundraising committee expressed their thanks to the island’s secondary school, who organised Sean & Isobel's Talent Show and a tea party to gather €1,000.
“Some €1400 had been raised to date,” committee members said. “An additional €1,000 was transferred to the Church account by Gairmscoil Mhic Diarmada. Thank you to the students who had two fundraisers. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the online fund so far.”
Envelopes will be distributed to each house on the island in the next month to collect funds for. It's an optional donation for those who prefer not to use online. There will be additional envelopes left for people visiting the island who would like to contribute.
The envelopes can be returned to the Church basket at weekend Masses or to a box in the Post Office. They can also return to a committee member. The fundraising committee is made up of Hugh Rodgers (Chairperson), Manus Early (Secretary), Anne Gaughan Proctor, Noreen Early (Treasurer), Denis O'Donnell (PRO), Jerry Early, Noreen Gallagher, Laurence Lenty and Aisling Cox.
