The new Rosses Labour Party candidate for the forthcoming election to Donegal County Council in the Glenties Electoral Area, hopes to continue the legacy of the former councillor in the area, Seamus Rodgers.

Jimmy Duffy, a native of Carrickfinn was nominated as the candidate for the upcoming local elections at the recent Labour Party convention in Glenties.

A historian, tour guide and community worker, Jimmy has been involved in business and community throughout his life.

Working with Seamus Rodgers since 2014, he knows how much work that great man has done for the people of west Donegal, although unelected. Jimmy feels that it is important that Seamus' socialist legacy and diplomacy be carried forward.

“I will also be pushing for change in the dysfunctional system in our health service, retaining services we currently have and pushing for more.

“I will be working for planning for our youth to live in their native rural areas, re-introduction of rural social housing as well as stopping the push towards urban housing for rural people
