Fr Seán Ó Gallchóir proves a popular winner of CLG Ghaoth Dobhair’s 50/50 draw

The Donegal GAA historian was ordained in June 1971 and spent almost all of his ministry in Donegal, serving in Falcarragh and Cnoc Fola and then being stationed in Gortahork since 1999, before retiring after 51 years in the priesthood in 2022

Fr Seán Ó Gallchóir was a popular winner of €190 in last week’s CLG Ghaoth Dobhair’s 50/50 draw.

A native of Derrybeg, Fr Seán is the historian of Donegal GAA. He first compiled a twelve-page booklet in 1979 using his research into the newspaper archives of the Donegal Democrat, Donegal News and Derry Journal, which he personally gathered at their offices and compiled in scrapbooks. The Book of Donegal GAA Facts was first published in 1985, with issues following thereafter up to the present day.

Máire Ní Choilm, Dun Lúiche, was also a winner, taking home €206.
