Donegal Airport has announced they the first Irish airport to achieve Level 4 Transformation in Airport Carbon Accreditation.
Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only institutionally endorsed, global management certification programme for airports. It independently assesses and recognises the efforts of airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions through 7 levels of certification: ‘Mapping’, ‘Reduction’, ‘Optimisation’, ‘Neutrality’, ‘Transition’ and ‘Level 5’.
"This achievement marks a very significant milestone in our sustainability journey and has been awarded in recognition of the airport's continuing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and aligning its operations with global climate goals," they posted.

Commenting on the announcement by ACA, Eilís Docherty, Managing Director Donegal Airport said: “The Chairperson, Board of Directors and Management of Donegal Airport are particularly proud at being the first Irish airport to achieve Level 4 ACA.
"This certification has been earned by the commitment of the airport staff and wider airport stakeholders to our published Net Zero ambitions and we will continue to work towards our interim goal of a 70% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and a long-term target of Net Zero emissions across all scopes no later than 2050”.
