A new Primary Care Centre is to be built in Dungloe.

Donegal TD and Sinn Féin’s Spokesperson for Finance Deputy Pearse Doherty welcomed the news communicated to him in a response from the HSE, with the exact location as yet unconfirmed.

“It is clear that Dungloe needs a new Primary Care Centre," Deputy Doherty said. "There is now an ageing population and there are rising incidences of chronic conditions in the area.

“Therefore, I am delighted that the HSE have responded to my inquiry as to whether there are any plans in place for such a facility with confirmation that they will be seeking expressions of interest in 2025 from developers.

“This is great news for Dungloe and I have no doubt it will be greatly welcomed by the local community. A modern medical facility in the town should enhance the availability of services and alleviate pressure on existing services that are all too often overstretched. Although planning permission was granted for a new Primary Care Centre on the Carnmore Road in 2021 the exact location has not yet been confirmed by the HSE.

“The exact timeline for the tender completion has also not been confirmed. I will keep on top of this development and press to have this facility built and serving the people of Dungloe and surrounding area as soon as possible.”
