Glenties councillor Brian Carr appointed to the Northern and Western Regional Assembly

The appointment comes following the nomination of Sinn Féin Inishowen councillor Jack Murray to the EU Committee of the Regions

Glenties Municipal District councillor Brian Carr has been appointed to the Northern and Western Regional Assembly.

His appointment comes following the nomination of Sinn Féin Inishowen councillor Jack Murray to the EU Committee of the Regions.

Cllr Carr was nominated by Cllr Gerry McMonagle (Sinn Féin) at this week’s plenary meeting of the council.

The Northern and Western Regional Assembly stretches across eight counties - Galway, Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo, Donegal, Monaghan, Mayo and Cavan - and includes nine local authorities.

It is comprised of 24 elected members with 21 nominated by the nine local authorities within the region and three from the Committee of the Regions.

Cllr Carr will be joining Donegal county councillors Ciaran Brogan (Fianna Fáil) and Niamh Kennedy (Independent).
