Kind-hearted Bríd Sweeney on course to finish 365-day walk

Many are expected to attend Casadh an tSúgáin tonight for a fundraising event in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust which is being organised by Bríd Sweeney.

The well-known photographer has walked every day since January 1 and will continue to do so until December 31, to raise money for the vital trust.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families through repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland. The trust has helped so many people throughout the county and country and is very much appreciated and respected.

“I have been walking every single day since January 1, 2022, to raise funds for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. I have been fundraising and I do hope to continue this fundraising tonight. There will be raffles, music and refreshments and I am sure there will be good craic on the night,” she said.

A special guest is expected to be present on the night and there will be a disco with DJ Dave.

Bríd intends to walk 365 of this year and to date, hasn’t missed a single day regardless of weather and each day posts a lovely photograph on social media and often adds a map of her latest walk. She has amassed a group of followers who support her on a daily basis.

The trust has helped many local families and Bríd wants to support the organisation who have been there to assist many families at times when they are at their lowest ebb.
