A wonderfully simple yet beautiful event is taking place in Glencolmcille to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge while celebrating the area's dark skies and the views this offers of the night sky.

A spokesperson for Lár Chomhairle Paróiste Ghleancholmcille took to social media to announce the upcoming event, A Siúlóid Faoin Ghealach le Gaeilge / Moonlight Walk le Gaeilge.

The spokesperson said: "Bígí linn!! Agus bain úsáid as do cúpla focail!

"Chonaic muid uilig an speir álainn anseo ag an deireadh seachtaine, agus na pictiúirí galánta de na Soilse ó Thuaidh
Ba mhaith linn é a chéiliúradh mar pháirt dár gcéiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia le siúlóid Gaeilge Dé Máirt seo chugainn, an 7ú Márta, ag tosacht ag a 7:00 i.n.

"Join us and use your cúpla focail!

"Many of us witnessed the beautiful sky at the weekend with the northern lights visible here over Glencolmcille, and the stunning photos people were able to capture locally. We would like to celebrate our amazing natural sky with a walk this Tuesday evening, March 7  starting at 7pm.

"It is also Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia so its a great chance for us all to celebrate our native language in the process and bain úsáid as do cúpla focail."

Teacht le chéile / meet at Oifig an Lár Chomhairle at Eircode F94 VY43.
