A major community fundraiser featuring some of Donegal’s most beloved musicians is set to take place to support the rebuilding of Teach Pobail Mhuire in Doirí Beaga, which was destroyed by fire last Monday morning.
The event, titled Oíche Tairbhí, will be held at Teach Phaidí Óig’s Marquee in Croithlí, with doors opening at 8pm this Saturday, April 26. The evening promises to be a powerful celebration of music, unity, and resilience, with all donations going directly toward the restoration of the cherished parish chapel.
Headlining the night will be Daniel O’Donnell, joined by Moya Brennan, the voice of Clannad, and Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, renowned fiddler of Altan. They will be accompanied by a host of local musicians, making the event a deeply personal tribute to the community’s spirit.

“This chapel gave us so much. Now it’s our turn to give back,” the organisers said in a heartfelt appeal. “Every hand, every heart, every small act of kindness will bring us closer to seeing our chapel rise once more.”

Teach Pobail Mhuire has long stood as a pillar of faith and tradition in Gweedore. Its destruction by fire was a devastating blow to the local community, but the upcoming fundraiser reflects a shared determination to rebuild - not just the structure, but the sense of togetherness it represents.
Organisers are calling on everyone near and far to attend or show support in any way they can: “Every voice, every hand, every note of music brings us closer to seeing our chapel rise once again.”
