One of Donegal's most anticipated events, the Ballintra Races is set to go ahead this August Bank Holiday Monday with the decision announced following a morning track assessment.
A spokesperson took to social media to say: "Following an inspection of the field this morning, the committee are delighted to announce the races are going ahead this afternoon. First race starts at 2.30pm, get there early and have a great day."

Today's race meeting marks a welcome return for the event which is being staged for the first time since 2019. While the pandemic put paid to plans in the subsequent years, it was the weather that put the dampener with last year’s planned comeback.
There is, therefore, a great feeling of relief celebration with final preparations taking place today, Monday, August 4.

The Ballintra Races dates back to 1943, and is believed to be among the largest flapper meetings in Ireland, second only to Dingle, County Kerry.
As always, this promises to be a fun-filled and memorable day out for all the family.
