The volunteer crew of Bundoran RNLI, together with locally based emergency services, will hold their fifth annual RNLI and Emergency Services Open Day on Sunday August 24, at Bundoran Lifeboat Station, The Pier, Bundoran.
The event, which is free of charge to attend, will take place from 1-4pm on the day. It will see representatives from many of the full-time and volunteer emergency services display their vehicles and equipment as well as offer demonstrations from their personnel on the day.
Local services expected to attend on the day are Bundoran Fire and Rescue, An Garda Síochana, Donegal Bay CFR, ECAS (Emergency Call Answering Service), Department of Defence and many others.
Event organiser and volunteer crew member Shane Smyth said: "We are very fortunate to have so many emergency services based locally from the lifeboat to the National Ambulance Service to the Army."
The open day is a celebration of their presence in the area as well as a chance for members of the public to see the equipment and meet the people who may one day end up saving their lives. It’s also an opportunity for services to impart safety advice, particularly around the water, for the many water users that visit Bundoran on a daily basis.
Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Daimon Fergus added: "We’d like to thank all of our emergency services colleagues for their attendance at our annual open day and for giving up their precious time to meet with the public and display their equipment and lifesaving skills."
A pop-up RNLI shop will be available on the day where many items of RNLI merchandise can be purchased with proceeds going directly to the charity.
